InfoSoup Library Lookup Greasemonkey scripts for Firefox

The Greasemonkey scripts on this page are for use with Firefox only. (Greasemonkey is a Firefox extension which allows you to install user scripts to any web page to change its behavior.)

When you are searching for titles in Amazon.com, the scripts will add information to Amazon items that will link you directly to the same item in InfoSoup. You will be told if an item is available, due back or not found in the catalog. When you click on the link, you will go directly to that item in the catalog where you can then place a hold if it isn't available. Here is an example of how the links will look in Amazon:

NOTE: The Library Lookup script is really cool, but even cool things have their limitations. Here are a couple you'll want to be aware of:

If you would like to be able to use the InfoSoup Library Lookup scripts, follow these steps:

  1. Get Firefox (if you don't already have it).
This script requires Firefox 1.5 or higher. Click on the link in the green Download Firefox box.
  2. Download and install Greasemonkey.
Click on the Install Now link in the green box. You will be told to close your browser in order for Greasemonkey to be completely installed.
  3. Download the InfoSoup Amazon Linky script.
When you click on the above link, the script will open. You will see something like this at the top of the page:

Click on the Install button as shown.
  4. Download the InfoSoup Amazon Linky script for UPC conversion.
This script is helpful when looking for formats other than books. Follow the installation steps included in #3 above.

Now you're ready to search Amazon.com and find what's available in InfoSoup at the same time. Congratulations!
